What's going to happen Join us on an exciting journey and hear the story of the Danish, family-owned winery Stokkebye, which started as a boyhood dream and is now one of Denmark's largest wineries with 17,000 vines. Along the way, taste the award-winning wines, which are produced organically. The grapes are harvested by hand, and sometimes up to three times on the same cane, to achieve the highest quality. It also makes them on the map at some of the country's leading gourmet restaurants such as Alchemist, Geranium, Jordnær, Falsled Kro and Rudolf Mathis in Kerteminde. Meet Your Host Stokkebye Vineyard is run by married couple Helle and Jacob Stokkebye. Helle became a full-time winegrower in 2018, after a career at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, the United Nations and as an independent consultant in sustainable business operations. It has always been Jacob's dream to stand with his own wine in his hand. In 2012, it became a reality, with the first Stokkebye wine coming bottled. Jacob is a trained waiter and butler, and has worked at Michelin restaurants in both Denmark and abroad. Since 1997 Jacob has also run sister company Butler's Choice - a quality food trading business. The company By Stokkebye also sells caviar, which comes from sturgeon raised in natural lakes in Schleswig-Holstein. The exclusive eggs are processed at the world's oldest caviar house in Hamburg.
Practical information
Please bring a sweater or jacket, as it can be cool in the winery. We also recommend wearing practical shoes for the walk in the vineyard. It is possible to buy wine and caviar in the farm shop after the tasting and the tour.

About By Stokkebye

History of Stokkebye

On the idyllic island of Funen, in the small village of Bovense, beautifully surrounded by rolling green fields, you will find our vineyard and family house. An unusual sight in a country so far north and quite unusual for the Danish landscape. And that's exactly what you can expect to find here; a unique and exquisitely fine dining and wine experience.
